Victorian Festival, Llandrindod Wells. 21 - 27 August. Set against the back drop of the spa town’s Victorian architecture this unique Festival transforms the town back to the Victorian Era. It finishes with a wonderful firework display on the lake.
Man V Horse Marathon, Llanwrtyd Wells. 10 & 11 June. The race starts in the town square and is run over a 22 mile course through some of the finest scenery in Mid Wales. For the first time in 2007 a man beat a horse.
World Bog Snorkelling Championships, Llanwrtyd Wells. 27 August. Now famous worldwide and attracting competitors from around the globe.
Trotting Races, Penybont. August. As well as Penybont there are trotting races held around the area from May to September.
Kington Show, Kington. 9 September. A wonderful traditional local agricultural show that has been taking place since 1881. Sheep, cattle, horses, poultry, main ring events, trade stands, competitions.
Ludlow Food Festival, Ludlow. 8 – 10 September. The best food and drink from the area set within Ludlow Castle walls with 160 exhibitors.
Wales Rally GB. 26 - 29 October. The final round of the FIA World Rally Championships
There is a range of local agricultural shows and fetes that take place in the area throughout the summer, including the Elan Valley Show, Newbridge on Wye Show and the Hundred House Show. All are traditional country shows with livestock, cookery, flower and produce competitions, stands and attractions.
