Country Courses and Farm Experience

Country Courses

Country Courses at Ty Gwyn Farm

Would you like to try your hand at something different? Perhaps learn a new skill or experience another way of life?  Maybe you want to spend a day doing something interesting and completely different from your normal daily life or work. Do you and some friends just want to have a day’s fun?  Come and learn with us in a relaxed atmosphere. There is a wide choice on our country courses. We usually start in our Cruck Barn which has been newly refurbished to provide a comfortable and atmospheric space to meet and learn.

Cruck BarnThe Cruck Barn is upstairs in the courtyard, it is believed to date back to the 18th century and would have previously been used for storing hay and straw for the animals below.

No longer useful for modern agriculture it has sat unused and unseen.  Now it is has been restored and can again be used and seen by a new generation of people. It provides a warm and comfortable place to sit and relax before and after courses.  Comfortable sofas and chairs are just the place to sit with a cup of coffee and discuss the day’s events. The Cruck Barn has a kitchen area for guests to help themselves to light refreshments.  The barn is equipped with a power point projector, screen and WiFi.

Access: The Cruck Barn is accessed by stairs, so it may be difficult for people with limited mobility.  Please contact us for more information.

Guestbook

We've had such a fabulous, adventurous time at Straw Cottage. Bea has loved the stream, den building, marshmallow toasting and all the birds. We've loved the quiet and the peaceful surroundings. We definitely want to come back. Hot tips for days out: Devils Bridge Falls, (astounding if exhausting), Rheidol Light Railway (breathtaking views), Elan Valley (even in the rain), Hay-on-Wye (even without the festival).
