About Us
Ty Gwyn Farm in Mid Wales is a traditional mixed farm, sitting in the rolling hills of Radnorshire, with stunning panoramic views in every direction.
Ty Gwyn is an ideal base from which to explore this hidden, unspoilt area of Mid Wales. The beautiful Elan Valley, Builth Wells and Hay on Wye are all within easy reach. There are walks around the farm and plenty of footpaths and long distance walks in the area of Radnorshire and Llandrindod Wells. Watch the wildlife; we have red kites, buzzards, hares and badgers, enjoy clean air, open skies and absolute peace and quiet. From the farm there is easy access to the Victorian Spa town of Llandrindod Wells which still retains its magnificent buildings many of which surround the Temple Gardens. Within the town there are supermarkets, local food shops, a Victorian theatre, gift shops, coffee shops, restaurants and pubs. The 13 acre lake is a particular feature with a magnificent dragon fountain in the middle.
Ty Gwyn is in a truly beautiful location. As you drive down the lane, you can see the vast panorama of hills spread out before you. Once here, there is a total peace and quiet, no other properties can be seen and the sky is dark at night, so you can see the stars. The only sounds you may hear are the birds, the stream and the sounds of our livestock. The lane that comes to the farm is very quiet and does not really go anywhere so we only get about one car a day using it!

The Straw Cottage is truly far from the madding crowd, an off grid straw bale cottage in an idyllic spot on the farm. Wake up to the sound of birdsong, go to sleep to the sound of Holly Brook, breakfast outside with just the meadow flowers and the hills for company. This is the romance of a bygone era with modern comfort.

Granary Cottage sits in the quiet courtyard of Ty Gwyn Farm surrounded by 130 acres of our farm. Ty Gwyn is in a truly beautiful location. Driving down the lane, the vast panorama of hills is spread out before you. Our 4th visit to the Straw Cottage!! We love it here so much. The weather has been fantastic. We enjoy watching and listening to the wild life. We had visits from The Bats, Mr. Hare, the woodpeckers! Poppy loves playing in the stream finding lots of treasure. We will miss our relaxing mornings! The Fforest Inn is still doing an amazing carvery on Sunday. Poppy (10years) says Thank you for the lovely stay. I enjoyed it sooo much! The roast was delicious at the Fforest Inn. I helped unblock the stream. It was amazing. xxx

What an excellent find! Such a beautiful and idyllic place to finish our holiday. Being completely immersed in nature (off the grid) has been so good for the kids, playing in the river to BBQs on the veranda to evenings of candlelit UNO, every day has been special. A little “UK summer weather” also didn’t get in the way, visiting Elan Valley, Brecon, Rhayader, Devils Bridge and an excellent 10Km walk from our doorstep. Thanks for having us and hope the next visitors enjoy it as much as we did.

We’ve had a restful and restorative 4 days. We have enjoyed unplugging and switching off – especially the boys! We enjoyed the treasure hunt – fun for all ages and lots of walks around the farm/playing in the stream. Reading books and many games of Ludo, surprisingly competitive) & chinese chequers. Although we arrived in the dark, we managed to settle in quickly, getting the fire going and the gas hob on. It was a first holiday as a relatively new family of 4. Roo being 8 months and we couldn’t have asked for a better location and more glorious weather! We needed this break from normality more than we realised! Thank you. What a beautiful setting for the cottage.

Absolutely beautiful!! We’ve had an amazing few days. It’s so peaceful here. We love the stream, the birds, the baby squirrels and the owls. It’s great to have a break from phones/screens.
